Co-Head of Investments
Laurent Babelon is Co-Head of Investments in Paris. Laurent was previously the CIO and led French investments for separate accounts and funds. He joined from ING Real Estate Investment Management France, where he was responsible for the Transactions department and support of asset management activities. Before joining ING in 2006, Laurent was a director of investments at AEW Europe in Paris. Laurent is a law graduate and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Managing Director - Italy
Massimiliano is the Country Head for AEW Europe in Italy and is responsible for developing the firm’s investment platform in Italian markets. Massimiliano has previous commercial real estate experience as an Investment Director at Gaiana SpA, which is part of the Gabetti Group, as well as from his role as an Asset Manager of a €6.5 billion real estate portfolio at Generali Properties Asset Management. He has further experience from his time at Pirelli Real Estate, where as an asset manager he focused on the management and structuring of retail and leisure assets. Massimiliano holds a degree in Business and Economics from the University of Bocconi in Milan.
Head of Fund Operations and Financing (Paris & Luxembourg)
Luc Bordereau is Managing Director, Head of Fund Operations and Financing (Paris &Luxembourg). He manages a team of 18 professionals in the financial structuring of funds and club deals for AEW Europe.
Luc joined AEW Europe in 2004 as a Fund Controller before being promoted at the end of 2010 to the position he currently holds. He was previously a supervisor for Ernst & Young Audit after being Financial Controller in an affiliate company of the Lafarge Group in Germany. Luc has 15 years of experience in finance and commercial real estate. He holds degrees from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Reims (ESC REIMS), Ingénierie Financière de la Sorbonne (Paris I) and DESCF.
Head of Debt, Fund Operations and Risk
Marcus Davidson-Wright is an Executive Director and Head of Debt, Fund Operations and Risk in AEW Europe’s London office for the Group’s London-based pan-European Funds. Marcus has been working in the real estate sector for 25 years. Prior to his role at AEW Europe, he was Finance Partner for Rutley Capital Partners and Chief Financial Officer for its various property funds, including Rutley European Property Limited, a publicly listed European core plus property company. He was responsible for finance and banking relationships, tax structuring, corporate governance, risk and financial control and reporting. Marcus sat on the investment committee of Rutley Capital Partners and oversaw approximately €1 billion of property investments in Europe and Russia, including fund structuring across Europe, Russia, India and Africa.
Marcus previously spent 15 years in the banking sector in tax and structured finance, spending much of his time on property-related finance transactions. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and past experience includes working in tax advisory at Arthur Andersen in London. Marcus is a graduate of Aston University in Birmingham.
Head of Institutional Asset Management France
Arnaud Broussou is Head of Institutional Asset Management France. Based in Paris, he leads the teams in charge of initiating and implementing AEW properties strategies (asset management, development, renovation, leasing and disposal of the assets), sustainable development and asset valuation. Arnaud Broussou joined AEW in 2011 as an Office Asset Manager before being appointed, in 2014, as Fund manager for a number of major French institutional clients of AEW. Before joining AEW, Arnaud worked 8 years at CBRE Global Investors as an Asset and Fund Manager for the residential and hotel department in France before becoming managing director of the German platform. Arnaud Broussou holds a master's degree in management science from EM Lyon business school, France.
Head of Separate Accounts & Club Deals
Marie-Hélène is Head of Separate Accounts and Club Deals for AEW Europe and Deputy CEO of AEW Europe SGP*. She is responsible for the relationships with separate account clients and the creation and management of co-investment opportunities.
She joined AEW Europe in 2008 as head of Portfolio Operations. She has been working within the finance and real estate fields for 25 years, principally with CDC and BPCE banking group. She was involved in corporate finance, M&A, real estate vehicles and funds and was responsible for the investment committee group. Marie-Hélène graduated from Sciences Po Paris, Dauphine University, and SFAF (the French Society of Financial Analyst).

Managing Director - Head of Debt Funds Management
Cyril Hoyaux is head of debt funds management, based in Paris. His responsibilities include the strategic direction and development of the firm’s European debt platform business. He has been active in real estate and debt financing throughout his career. Cyril joins AEW Europe from JLL France where he was co-head of the debt advisory platform he established with Christophe Murciani. The main objective was to offer clients custom-made solutions for acquisition financing, refinancing, restructuring and renegotiation.
Prior to this he was at Morgan Stanley where he actively participated in sourcing and structuring in excess of €4 billion of real estate financing transactions, as well as their ultimate distribution through CMBS or syndication. He was also the head of the valuation division of Ad Valorem. Cyril Hoyaux holds a BA in corporate finance from Dauphine University and an MBA in commercial real estate from Sorbonne University.
Head of Investments, Germany
Gereon Kohlgrüber is a Director in AEW Europe’s investments team based in Düsseldorf and is Deputy Head of Germany. He is primarily responsible for identifying, negotiating, structuring and closing real estate acquisitions.
Gereon has been working in the real estate industry for more than 20 years and prior to joining AEW Europe he was Head of Investments for the German insurance company, Gerling Konzern. Prior to this, he worked for Deutsche Immobilien Leasing, a subsidiary of the Deutsche Bank group. During his career, Gereon has completed acquisitions totaling approximately €2 billion. He holds a degree in Business Administration and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Head of Credit and Portfolio Management for Debt Funds
Véronique Leblanc is the Head of Credit and Portfolio Management for AEW Europe’s Debt Funds. In this role she is responsible for overseeing credit infrastructure, including the origination and transaction pricing for loans, as well as for credit management and portfolio monitoring.
Previously, Véronique was Head of Financing & Tax Structuring for AEW Europe until December 2011. In this capacity, she was responsible for coordinating, negotiating, and restructuring financing on over €4bn of real estate loans.
Véronique holds an Executive Master's degree in Corporate Finance and Capital Markets from IEP Paris, a Master's degree in Private Law from Lille University and a degree from Institut Supérieur de Gestion.
Head of Belgium and the Netherlands
Patrick Meutermans is Head of Belgium and The Netherlands, based in Belgium. In his capacity, Patrick is responsible for spearheading the development of AEW Europe's business in Belgium and the Netherlands as well as the management of its portfolio of existing Dutch and Belgian assets. Prior to joining AEW Europe, Patrick was Country Manager, member of the European Management and Retail Boards of CBRE Global Investors. Patrick has over 15 years’ real estate experience. Prior to CBRE Global Investors, Patrick was asset, transaction, portfolio and project manager at various real estate companies including ING Real Estate, Heijmans Vastgoed and Mevo. Patrick is member of BIV/IPI, he is a board member of the Belgium Real Estate Society, holds a BREEAM licence and has been a RICS member and assessor since 2007. He holds a Master’s Degree in Constructional Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Real Estate from the University of Antwerp.
European Head of Research and Strategy
Hans Vrensen manages the Research & Strategy team at AEW in Europe. Based in London, Hans oversees teams in London and Paris. His responsibilities include advising the investment and asset management teams on macroeconomic and property market dynamics, contributing to the formation of investment strategies and performing primary and secondary property market analysis. Before joining AEW Hans acted as an external consultant to CREFC Europe for two years, and was Global Head of Research at DTZ from 2009 to 2015, providing leading research for occupiers and investors while also assisting the group with strategic business planning. Hans has also worked for Barclays Capital as Head of European Securitization Research and at Moody’s Investor Services as a Senior Credit Officer.
Hans is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst with a Masters in Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Masters in Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
